Why Los Angeles Homeowners Choose Kohler Construction

We provide independent Kohler repair in Los Angeles, covering everything from Artifacts faucet cartridge replacements to full Choreograph shower tear-outs and rebuilds. Sawyer Remodeling is not affiliated with or authorized by Kohler, and we don’t pretend to be. What we are is a remodeling company that has torn apart and rebuilt hundreds of Los Angeles kitchens and bathrooms around Kohler fixtures, so we know exactly where these products fail in real homes with hard water, shifting framing, and twenty-year-old rough plumbing.

Call (254) 272-5876

Since 2005, we’ve specified, installed, and provided Kohler service in Glendale and across Los Angeles on our own reputation. That means when a Purist valve loses pressure, a Memoirs toilet phantom-runs, or an Underscore tub flexes because the last guy skipped the mortar bed, we know the fix before we even open the wall. Call (254) 272-5876 and tell us what’s happening. We’ll give you a straight answer and a written price before any work starts.

Why Trust Sawyer Remodeling for Your Kohler Construction?

A low-threshold walk-in shower with a bench and grab bar

Luca Romano, our owner, spent his teenage years watching his uncle gut a duplex interior in Silver Lake one weekend at a time, then went through Los Angeles Trade-Technical College to learn framing, finish carpentry, and how to read a set of plans without guessing. He’s been swinging tools in LA for over two decades, and the reason our Kohler work holds up is simple: we treat a fixture install like a framing job. Level, square, waterproof, done.

Our techs know Kohler’s product lines the way a mechanic knows an engine. We stock genuine Kohler cartridges, valves, flappers, and seals for common models, and we don’t substitute mystery parts to save a few bucks. When we open a wall to replace a shower valve, we’re using the Kohler part that belongs in that valve body, not a universal knockoff that fits three brands and none of them well. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch, it just needs to be done right.

Every Kohler job runs under The Relay Visibility Guarantee: a live arrival time, before-and-after photo updates, and a written price before a single tool is picked up. You know who’s coming, when they arrive, and what it costs. No surprises at the invoice.

Common Kohler Construction Problems We Fix in Los Angeles

Here’s what actually fails in Los Angeles and Long Beach Kohler service calls, based on what we pull out of walls and off vanities every month:

  • Artifacts and Purist kitchen faucet drips and stiff handles. These single-handle faucets run on a ceramic disc cartridge that wears down fast in LA’s mineral-heavy water. A drip at the spout or a handle that fights you is almost always that cartridge. We replace it with a genuine Kohler part, not a parts-store generic that’ll start dripping again in six months.
  • Choreograph shower panel seams wicking moisture. The Choreograph system depends on a factory sealant bond and perfectly level walls. Older Los Angeles houses with out-of-square framing or a previous installer who skipped the level check end up with seams that open up and let water behind the panels. You won’t see it until the drywall swells or mold shows at the base. We fix the framing and reset the system properly, or switch you to a tiled substrate when it makes more sense.
  • Memoirs and Devonshire toilets with phantom running and gasket leaks. Fill valves and flappers wear out, plain and simple. The tank-to-bowl gasket on original installs also dries out and leaks, especially in LA’s warm, dry summers. A toilet that refills itself every twenty minutes is wasting water and running up your DWP bill. Usually a genuine Kohler fill valve and flapper solve it same visit.
  • Underscore tubs and shower receptors that flex or crack. These acrylic units require a proper mortar bed or subfloor beneath them. When a previous remodel skipped that step, the base flexes with every step, eventually cracking at stress points or draining toward the wrong corner. We pull the unit, set the bed correctly, and reinstall so it doesn’t move.
  • Purist shower valves that lose temperature control. The pressure-balancing cartridge inside wears or gets clogged with mineral buildup from LA water. You’ll notice sudden temperature swings when someone flushes a toilet or starts a load of laundry. A genuine Kohler cartridge fixes it, and we stock the common ones on the truck.

Kohler Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

A remodeled hall bathroom with subway tile and a floating vanity

For anything behind a wall or under a fixture, we use genuine Kohler replacement parts: cartridges, valves, flappers, seals, trim screws. No negotiation on that. For visible consumables, like a drain assembly or a toilet flapper, we’ll offer a quality aftermarket option if it saves you real money and won’t compromise the fixture. We stock the common Kohler cartridges and valves locally, so most faucet and shower repairs happen on the first visit, not after a week of waiting on a parts order.

Honest repair versus replacement is a judgment call we make with you. An older Kohler Memoirs toilet with a bad fill valve is almost always worth repairing; those vitreous china castings last decades. A Choreograph surround with breached seams and water behind the panels may not be worth salvaging, especially if the framing underneath is compromised. We show you the numbers both ways and let you decide. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll walk through it with you.

Our Kohler Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. A background-checked, uniformed tech arrives at the scheduled time and inspects the fixture. For shower leaks, we may use a moisture meter behind the wall before we open anything. You get a written diagnosis and a fixed price before work starts, per The Relay Visibility Guarantee.
  2. 2
Repair or install. If we’re opening a wall, we cut cleanly and plan for proper waterproofing on the rebuild. For valve work, we install genuine Kohler cartridges and test water pressure at the valve body. For tub and shower receptor installs, we set the mortar bed, level the unit, and strap it right.
  3. 3
Test under real conditions. We run water at full pressure and temperature, cycle the valves, flush the toilet five times, and check every seam and connection. You see the result and approve it before we clean up.
  4. 4
Warranty and follow-up. Every Kohler job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if it’s not done right, we make it right. You get a digital invoice you can pay from a link, and before-and-after photos of the work.

Kohler Products We Service & Install in Los Angeles

We work on the Kohler lines most common in Los Angeles and Anaheim Kohler service homes: the Choreograph shower wall and receptor system, Memoirs and Devonshire toilets and lavatories, Artifacts and Purist faucet and shower trim, and Underscore and Archer soaking tubs and shower bases. We stock common genuine cartridges and valves for these lines locally, which means faster turnaround on the repairs that matter most. Beyond repair, we install these products in full bathroom and kitchen remodels, including walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions, and vanity installations with Kohler lavatories.

We Also Service These Brands

We’re not a one-brand shop. We specify and install KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Toto fixtures across our Los Angeles remodels, alongside Kohler. That multi-brand experience means we recommend what actually works in your space, not whatever single brand we happen to carry.

FAQs – Kohler Construction Service in Los Angeles

A remodeled hall bathroom with patterned floor tile and painted walls

Is Sawyer Remodeling authorized by Kohler?

No. We’re an independent remodeling company serving Los Angeles and we’re not affiliated with or authorized by Kohler. We specify, install, and service their products on our own reputation and workmanship warranty.

My Kohler Artifacts kitchen faucet drips even after I replaced the cartridge – what’s actually wrong?

If you’ve already swapped the cartridge and the drip continues, the problem is usually a worn ceramic disc seat inside the valve body, not the cartridge itself. Mineral scoring from LA’s hard water can etch the seat so it can’t hold a seal. You may also have debris in the supply line that keeps re-damaging new cartridges. We inspect the valve body, clean or replace the seat, and flush the lines before installing a genuine Kohler cartridge. Call (254) 272-5876 for an exact diagnosis, estimates are free.

Can you replace just my Kohler Choreograph shower walls without changing the base?

Sometimes yes. If the receptor is still solid and the walls are the problem, we can often remove and replace the wall panels while keeping the base. But if the base has flexed or cracked, or the framing behind the walls is rotted, you’re better off redoing the whole system. We’ll give you a written price for both scenarios and let you choose. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll talk it through.

Is it worth repairing a Kohler Memoirs toilet or should I replace it?

Almost always repair. The Memoirs vitreous china casting is built to last thirty-plus years. A fill valve, flapper, or tank-to-bowl gasket replacement runs a fraction of a new toilet and gets you back to quiet, reliable operation. The only exception is if the china itself is cracked or the finish is failing. We stock genuine Kohler parts for Memoirs and Devonshire toilets and can usually fix them same visit.

Do you have to be Kohler-authorized to install a Kohler shower valve or tub?

No. Kohler does not require manufacturer authorization for licensed plumbers or contractors to install their products. What matters for the warranty is that the fixture was installed according to Kohler’s published specs and that genuine Kohler parts are used. We install to those specs and keep records of every job.

How do you handle Kohler fixtures that are discontinued in a bathroom remodel?

If the trim or finish has been discontinued, we hunt down remaining stock through our supplier network, or we match the closest current Kohler finish. When matching isn’t possible, we show you what’s available and adjust the design without forcing a style change you didn’t ask for. Discontinued trim is not a dead end unless the fixture itself has failed.
