KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

KraftMaid bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles typically costs $10,620 – $33,040 for a full remodel, with most homeowners landing between $14,000 and $22,000 depending on vanity configuration, shower scope, and whether any plumbing moves. If a single part has failed – a drawer guide, a hinge, a worn vanity top seam, or a delaminating cabinet door – we can usually address that specific issue without tearing out the rest of the bathroom. Most owners discover the problem the unglamorous way: a drawer that won’t close flush, a door that sags and scrapes, or water staining creeping up the toe kick where the finish has failed.

Since 2005, Sawyer Remodeling has handled KraftMaid bathroom work across Los Angeles – from Silver Lake bungalows to newer builds in Playa Vista. We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with KraftMaid, but we know their cabinet lines well enough to match parts, finishes, and hardware the first trip out.

Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

KraftMaid has built bathroom vanities and cabinetry across several series lines over the years, and each one has its own quirks. The most common lines we service in Los Angeles homes are the Vantage, Benton, and Kittredge collections, along with older models from the Passport Series and the discontinued Core Collection. Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t know: KraftMaid changed their hinge boring pattern on select models around 2016. Cabinets built before the switch use a 35mm cup depth, while newer ones run a 38mm bore. Ordering the wrong hinge means the door hangs proud by a frustrating 3 millimeters.

To identify what you need, pull a drawer and look for the manufacturer stamp on the inside of the cabinet box. KraftMaid stamps are usually ink-printed, not burned, and fade with cleaning products. If you can’t read it, measure the drawer slide length – KraftMaid vanities typically use 18″ or 21″ full-extension slides, and aftermarket substitutes at the big-box stores are almost always 16″, which leaves you with a drawer that doesn’t fully pull out.

For OEM parts, KraftMaid’s replacement program is solid but slow – 3 to 5 weeks from order to arrival is common. Quality aftermarket equivalents (Blum, Salice, Grass) often match or exceed OEM specs at 60 – 70% of the cost, and we stock the common SKUs on the truck. For finish-matched doors and drawer fronts, OEM is the only realistic option – aftermarket color matching on KraftMaid’s maple and cherry stains is a gamble nobody should take.

Signs Your KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Drawer slides grinding or catching mid-pull. The ball bearings inside the slide have worn or corroded. Bathroom humidity accelerates this – Los Angeles coastal air near areas like Mar Vista and Playa del Rey carries salt that eats cheap slides in 4 – 6 years.
  • Door hinges sagging, leaving the door visibly crooked. KraftMaid’s concealed hinges have a tension spring that fatigues. The door usually scrapes the face frame at the bottom corner. Adjustment screws can temporarily realign it, but once the spring is shot, tightening only buys weeks.
  • Swollen or darkened cabinet bottoms under the sink. Water has been sitting on the cabinet floor. The finish wears thin at the seam between the bottom panel and face frame – common in Los Angeles homes built before 1990 with original supply lines that drip at the compression nut.
  • Vanity top seam separation where two slabs meet. KraftMaid cultured marble and quartz tops use a color-matched adhesive at factory seams. Temperature swings between unconditioned summer heat and winter cool cycles crack that adhesive over 7 – 10 years, especially on vanities wider than 48″.
  • Soft-close hinges or drawer glides that no longer catch. The damping mechanism has leaked its internal fluid or the catch housing cracked. On KraftMaid’s older soft-close hardware, this is a known failure point around year 6, and the fix is a full hardware swap, not lubrication.

  • Full hinge replacement on one vanity door: $120 – $260
  • Complete hardware swap on a double vanity (all slides and hinges): $480 – $890

  • Tub-to-shower conversion with KraftMaid-compatible cabinetry: $4,130 – $11,800
  • Full KraftMaid bathroom remodel (new vanity, top, fixtures, tile, lighting): $10,620 – $33,040

Every quote we give in Los Angeles is a written, line-item price before any tool gets picked up. The number you approve is the number on the invoice. No change orders, no “we found this once we opened the wall” surprise pricing. Materials are listed at cost, labor is listed separately, and the work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise – if something isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. Replacing a KraftMaid drawer slide is within reach of a patient homeowner with a Phillips screwdriver and 20 minutes – the slides are screw-mounted, no special tools needed, and the danger level is zero. Adjusting a concealed hinge takes a T20 Torx bit and some trial-and-error, but it’s safe. Replacing a hinge that’s actually broken means removing the door from the face frame, and that’s where DIY typically goes sideways: KraftMaid face frames are maple or birch, the screws strip easily, and a stripped screw hole in a $400 cabinet door turns a $150 fix into a $500 problem.

Anything involving water – vanity top seams, swollen cabinet bottoms, supply lines – is where we say stop and call us. Water damage hides. What looks like a stained cabinet bottom is often rot traveling up the side panels. Our techs in Los Angeles see this weekly. If you’re not sure which camp your problem falls into, call (254) 272-5876 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service call or whether you can handle it yourself this weekend.
