Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
A Cambria bathroom remodel in Los Angeles typically costs $10,620 to $33,040 installed, depending on the size of your bathroom, whether you’re replacing a vanity top or doing a full gut, and which Cambria quartz design you choose. Most full bathroom remodels take 3 to 5 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. Homeowners usually call us after a vanity top cracks at the sink cutout, a shower threshold chips, or the Cambria surface they installed a decade ago looks dull and scratched no matter how often they clean it.
The short version: Cambria is quartz, not natural stone. It doesn’t need sealing, it resists stains well, and it holds up better than marble in a wet Los Angeles bathroom. But it’s not indestructible. A dropped hair dryer, a leaning medicine cabinet during install, or years of hard-water mineral buildup from LA’s notoriously mineral-heavy tap water will eventually take a toll.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria manufactures all its quartz slabs in one place: Le Sueur, Minnesota. That’s true whether you bought a slab five years ago or twenty. The product line isn’t split into “series” like some quartz brands, but there are finish and design differences that matter when you’re matching a replacement piece.
Cambria sells three surface finishes: high-gloss, matte, and their newer “Cambria Matte” and “Satin Ridge” treatments that started rolling out around 2018. If your existing countertop has a high-gloss finish, you can’t drop in a matte replacement section and expect it to blend. Same goes for the design pattern: Cambria runs are numbered (for example, Brittanicca, Torquay, Summerhill, Portrush), and each run has slight veining variation from batch to batch. If you need to replace one section of a larger countertop, we always recommend pulling the slab lot number from the original invoice or the sticker on the underside of the countertop. That gets us as close as physically possible to a match. Without the lot number, the replacement piece may be visibly different, especially in direct bathroom lighting.
For OEM versus aftermarket: Cambria doesn’t sell “parts” in the traditional sense. There’s no Cambria-branded faucet or Cambria drain assembly. What you’re buying is the slab and the installation. So the aftermarket decision applies to the components around it: sink, faucet, drain, plumbing connections. We install Cambria-specific sinks and recommend fixtures from Kohler and Grohe because their deck dimensions and drain positions play reliably with Cambria’s edge profiles. Sawyer Remodeling is an independent provider, not affiliated with or certified by Cambria, and we’ll tell you that straight. We buy slabs direct from Cambria’s distribution network and template, cut, and install in-house.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Hairline cracks radiating from the sink cutout corners. This is the most common failure point on Cambria vanity tops. The corner where the undermount sink meets the slab is a stress riser. Drop a bottle of cologne from chest height and that’s often all it takes. The crack doesn’t spread overnight, but it will grow, and water will eventually find its way through and rot the cabinet underneath.
- Dull, cloudy patches that won’t polish out. Hard water in Los Angeles (particularly in neighborhoods fed by the eastern Sierra supply) leaves calcium and magnesium deposits that etch into the quartz surface over years. Once the polish is gone, no amount of Soft Scrub brings it back. The fix is professional refinishing or replacement of that slab section.
- Chipped edge at the shower threshold or curb. Cambria shower curbs take abuse: shampoo bottles, shower doors slamming, a stray shaving mirror. A chip on the edge is repairable with color-matched epoxy if it’s caught early. Left alone, the chip widens and water intrusion starts.
- Discolored seams that have turned dark or yellow. The adhesive Cambria fabricators use is color-matched at install. Over a decade in a humid bathroom, cheap adhesive oxidizes. The seam line becomes visible, then dark. A proper repair means grinding out the old seam and redoing it with a fresh color-matched fill.
- The vanity top has pulled away from the wall or the cabinet below. This is less about the Cambria and more about the install. If the cabinet was set level but the shims have compressed under quartz weight (Cambria is dense: roughly 18 pounds per square foot), the slab shifts and gaps open. You’ll see the caulk line separate. That’s a structural correction, not a cosmetic caulk job.

Cambria quartz is not a DIY-friendly material. It’s not like butcher block or formica that you can cut with a circular saw in the driveway. Quartz is ground stone held together with resin. Cutting it requires a diamond blade, a wet saw, proper dust collection, and enough experience to know that a bad cut on an expensive slab is a very expensive mistake. Replacing a Cambria vanity top means lifting up to 150 pounds of stone, disconnecting plumbing without cracking the p-trap, and setting the new piece level on the cabinet. If you shim a vanity top wrong even by 1/8 inch, the seam cracks within a month, and you’ve now paid for the slab twice.
What you can safely do: check your current slab for lot numbers (sticker on the underside), measure your vanity and sink dimensions with a tape measure, and clean the surface with a pH-neutral stone cleaner, never vinegar or bleach. Everything else is a call to (254) 272-5876. We’ll send a technician who knows exactly what they’re walking into, with the live arrival time on your phone via The Relay Visibility Guarantee.
FAQs

Cambria quartz countertops and shower surrounds in Los Angeles homes typically last 15 to 25 years before cosmetic wear or structural issues set in, assuming they were installed correctly and cleaned with pH-neutral products. The limiting factor in LA is usually hard water etching and UV exposure in bathrooms with large east or south-facing windows. California sun is relentless, and while Cambria won’t fade like laminates, prolonged sunlight can cause very subtle resin discoloration over two decades. We’ve seen 2005-era Cambria installs in Silver Lake and Echo Park that still look serviceable, which is more than can be said for most 20-year-old tile jobs. The install quality matters more than the slab itself. Call (254) 272-5876 for an exact assessment, and the estimate is free.
Yes, a crack in a Cambria countertop can be repaired if it’s caught early and the crack hasn’t reached the sink cutout edge. The repair involves routing out the crack line, filling with color-matched resin adhesive, and polishing the filled seam to blend with the surrounding finish. The results are strong, but the repaired area will always have a faint seam line if you look close. If the crack runs from edge to edge across the entire slab, or if it’s within two inches of the sink cutout, replacement is the honest recommendation. A repair on that stress point fails again, usually within a year. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll tell you straight which side of the line your crack falls on, for free.
A standard Cambria vanity top replacement takes one day on-site, with the process split into two visits roughly two to three weeks apart. The first visit is templating: our technician laser-measures your existing cabinet, sink position, and faucet layout in about 45 minutes. The second visit is install day, which runs four to six hours including removal of the old top, plumbing disconnect and reconnect, new slab placement, and caulking. The time between visits is spent cutting and polishing your slab at our shop. Full bathroom remodels with Cambria shower surrounds run three to five weeks because waterproofing and tile work happen before the quartz goes on the walls. The Relay Visibility Guarantee means you get a photo update before and after every major phase, so you’re never guessing what happened while you were at work.
We do not warehouse Cambria slabs at our shop. Cambria operates its own distribution model: we order your specific design and finish through Cambria’s West Coast distribution network, and the slab arrives at our Los Angeles fabrication shop in three to seven business days. What we do stock: Kohler and Moen fixtures, drain assemblies, plumbing connectors, Schluter waterproofing components, and the color-matched adhesives and caulks we use on Cambria installs. If you have a failed faucet or drain on an existing Cambria vanity, we likely have the replacement part on the truck and can handle the swap same-day. If you need a full slab replacement, the lead time is built into your schedule before we start, so there’s no surprise wait. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll check current Cambria availability for your design while you’re on the phone.
