CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a CertainTeed paver driveway or patio in Los Angeles and a section is failing, we can usually match the exact paver, order what’s needed, and handle the repair ourselves. Most CertainTeed paver repairs in LA run between $4130 and $12980 installed, depending on square footage, base repair, and paver matching. You’ll usually notice the problem first as a sunken corner, a cracked paver near the driveway edge, or a section that shifts when you drive over it.
Paver failures in Los Angeles almost never happen in isolation. The paver cracks because the base below it failed, or tree roots pushed through, or years of drought-wet-drought cycles in our clay-heavy soil created a void underneath. Matching the paver is the easy part. Fixing what’s underneath is the actual repair. Sawyer Remodeling is an independent contractor, not affiliated with CertainTeed, but we work with their paver lines regularly enough to know what’s still manufactured, what’s discontinued, and what has to be sourced from a matching lot.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s paver and driveway products fall under a few distinct families. The ones we see most in LA neighborhoods are the Panorama Paver line (square-edge concrete pavers in 6×6, 6×9, and 12×12 formats), the Monumental series (larger-format slabs with a textured face, often used for driveways), and the older Gravel-Lok and DriveGrid systems that paired gravel with a stabilizing grid rather than solid pavers. If your pavers are the standard 60mm thickness, you’re almost certainly looking at Panorama or Monumental. Driveway-rated pavers run 80mm; patio-only pavers are 60mm and will crack under vehicle weight if a previous owner used the thinner ones on a driveway.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we run into weekly: CertainTeed paver colors are manufactured in dye lots, and a “Sahara Beige” paver from 2018 will not match a “Sahara Beige” paver manufactured this year. Sun fading on the installed pavers makes the mismatch worse. When we do a repair, we pull a paver from an inconspicuous area (under a planter, behind a gate) to use as the visible patch, then order the new paver to fill the hidden spot. If we can’t get an exact lot match, we’ll tell you before ordering anything. CertainTeed has also shifted some production between plants, and older mold profiles on discontinued lines don’t accept newer pavers cleanly. Aftermarket equivalents exist for basic 6×9 and 12×12 concrete pavers, but for textured or color-blended finishes, OEM is the only way to avoid a visible patch.

Signs Your CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking or dipping at the driveway apron. The first paver past the sidewalk gutter line takes the most abuse. When the base erodes, that section drops and the pavers pull apart. In LA, this usually means water from sprinkler overspray or gutter runoff has been undercutting the sand base for years.
- Cracked pavers in a diagonal line. A crack that runs through multiple pavers, not just one, almost always means the base below shifted. In Los Angeles clay soil, the wet winter/dry summer cycle causes expansion and contraction that finds the weakest seam in your paver field.
- Edge pavers separating along the border. Without proper edge restraint (plastic or concrete), the outside pavers migrate outward under side load. You’ll see a widening gap between the border course and the field pavers, then weeds, then chipping.
- Pavers rocking underfoot or under the car. A single rocking paver means the bedding sand below it compacted unevenly. A whole section that rocks means the sub-base has voids. Driving over it accelerates the failure, and the fix is no longer a reset, it’s a base excavation.
- Efflorescence that never goes away. A white chalky film is normal on new concrete pavers, but in LA’s hard-water irrigation environment, persistent efflorescence combined with spalling (surface flaking) signals trapped moisture under the paver surface, not on top of it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a paver repair job with matching CertainTeed pavers lands between $4130 and $12980 for the typical scope. A small patch of ten to twenty pavers on a patio is at the low end of that range. A driveway section that needs base excavation, new aggregate, recompaction, and a full paver reset is at the high end. Most of the cost is labor and material handling, not the pavers themselves. CertainTeed pavers run roughly $4 to $9 per square foot for material, but getting to the broken section, removing without damaging the surrounding field, and recompacting the base without tearing out healthy pavers takes time and care.
We give you a written price before any work starts, and the number on the invoice is the number you approved. That’s just how we run jobs. Every CertainTeed repair we do includes the written line-item estimate, an explanation of what we found under the pavers once we lift them, photo updates during the work, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails within a year because we missed something, we make it right at no charge. We also cover a second visit at no cost if the repair fails. That promise is in writing on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
For a paver repair, the safe things you can do yourself: clear debris from the joints, check for sprinkler overspray hitting the paver area, and mark exactly which pavers are moving. You can safely lift a loose patio paver with a flat pry bar and look at the sand underneath. What you shouldn’t DIY: any repair involving vehicle weight, drainage correction, or sections larger than a few pavers. A driveway repair that doesn’t fix the base is a $500 patch that looks good for six months and then fails again. If you have to ask whether the base is the problem, it probably is.
If the section is on your driveway and you hear it crunching when you pull in, don’t ignore it. A failed driveway section in Los Angeles becomes a trip hazard, a tire damage hazard, and eventually a worse base failure. Call us at (254) 272-5876 and we’ll walk through what you’re seeing, then schedule a time to look at it in person.
FAQs

CertainTeed concrete pavers in Los Angeles typically last 25 to 40 years if the base was installed correctly and drainage was managed. Pavers on a poor base fail in 5 to 10 years regardless of brand. The paver itself rarely fails first – the base or edge restraint fails first. If your pavers are cracking at year eight, the paver didn’t wear out. Something under it gave. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll tell you what we’re seeing during a free estimate.
Yes, and in Los Angeles, section repairs are the norm, not the exception. We only recommend full replacement when the failure pattern covers more than 30 to 40 percent of the field, or when the base has failed in multiple areas and further patches would be chasing good money after bad. The decision comes down to what we find when we lift the first few pavers. Call (254) 272-5876 to schedule a look.
A small patio patch takes one day. A driveway section with base repair takes two to three days, including demo, base recompaction, paver reset, and joint sand. Paver matching is the variable: if we have to order from a specific dye lot, add a week of lead time. We’ll tell you that timeline before you approve anything.
We stock common 6×9 and 12×12 concrete pavers in beige, gray, and charcoal on the truck, and we order specific CertainTeed products (Panorama, Monumental, specialty colors) from local Los Angeles supply yards as needed. If you have a discontinued color or texture, we’ll source a match and bring you samples before committing. Call (254) 272-5876 for a free estimate and we’ll confirm what we can get before you spend a dollar.
We also install and source parts for other brands on many of our jobs, including KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops – and for exterior work, CertainTeed pavers and roofing are a regular part of the LA homes we see.
