Abodu Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your Abodu kitchen is showing its age and you’re ready to remodel it properly, a full kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, and we can usually get started within two to three weeks of your written estimate. The most common trigger we see is cabinet door hinges pulling loose from the frame, which happens when the factory-installed hardware strips out of Abodu’s laminated MDF boxes. Countertop seam separation is a close second, especially in LA kitchens that sit on the west side where afternoon sun hits the same run of counters every day.
You didn’t buy an Abodu home to spend your weekends fighting a kitchen that doesn’t work. We get that. Here’s what you need to know about tearing out and rebuilding an Abodu kitchen in Los Angeles, what it costs, and how to tell if you can hold off another year or if it’s time to swing the hammer.
Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu builds accessory dwelling units and compact homes in a few consistent footprints, and the kitchen components are largely the same across the Studio, One Bed, and Two Bed lines. The cabinet boxes are 5/8-inch laminated MDF with a 36-inch standard counter height and 12-inch upper depth. The kickplate is 4 inches, which is shallower than the 4.5 inches you see on most American cabinetry, so if you’re replacing base cabinets, the new boxes have to be ordered with a 4-inch toe kick or they’ll sit proud of an existing floor transition.
We install both OEM-sourced Abodu parts and quality aftermarket equivalents. For hinges and drawer slides, Blum and Salice aftermarket hardware actually outlasts the original Abodu-spec pieces, because the factory used a lighter-duty 110-degree opening angle on most units we’ve opened up. If you want soft-close, we swap in Blum clip-top hinges with the 107-degree profile that matches the Abodu door overlay. For cabinet boxes themselves, we don’t patch MDF that’s swollen from a sink leak. We replace the box or rebuild the face frame. You can identify which cabinet line you have by pulling a drawer and looking for a small white sticker on the interior side panel: older Abodu runs carry a four-digit batch number starting with 2 or 3, newer runs start with a 5. It helps us match the face profile if we’re replacing one door and not the whole run.

Signs Your Abodu Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Hinge screws spin without tightening. The MDF around the screw hole has stripped. That’s not a hinge problem, it’s a box problem. You can buy time with a 9mm repair dowel and wood glue, but once two or three hinges on the same door go, the box is telling you it’s done.
- Drawer faces sit crooked or rub against the frame below. The factory undermount slides lose their plastic retaining clips over time, and once one side unclips, the drawer torques. We see this most often in kitchens where the dishwasher sits directly opposite the silverware drawer, because years of humidity swings soften the clip.
- Countertop seams have pulled apart or darkened. Abodu installs quartz and solid-surface counters in sections, and the seams are factory-filled with a color-matched epoxy. LA’s dry air and the daily temperature swing from 50 to 85 degrees eventually cracks that fill. Water gets in, the seam darkens, and no amount of scrubbing fixes it.
- Soft-close doors slam when the temperature drops. The factory-installed dampers are oil-filled cylinders, and in Los Angeles winters they stiffen up. If your doors close fine in August but slam in January, the dampers are shot. It’s a $12 part, but matching the right stroke length to the Abodu hinge takes about two minutes with a caliper.
- Cabinet interiors smell musty after a sink or dishwasher leak. MDF swells and holds moisture like a sponge. Once a particleboard cabinet gets wet, it never dries back to its original strength. We’ve opened Abodu sink bases where the bottom panel had turned to oatmeal and the sink was hanging off the counter by the plumbing alone.

A full Abodu kitchen remodel in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope. On the lower end, you’re looking at new cabinet doors and drawer fronts, new hardware, a countersplash refresh, and relaminating the existing boxes where they’re still sound. The upper end is a full gut: new cabinets, stone counters, new plumbing rough-ins if you move the sink, new electrical runs, and tile work. Small kitchen remodels in smaller Abodu Studio footprints run $10,620 to $23,600 when we’re keeping the existing layout and working inside the same cabinet footprint.
| Scope | Typical Los Angeles installed price |
|---|---|
| Full kitchen remodel (Abodu full footprint) | $16,520 – $53,100 |

| Kitchen island installation | $3,540 – $11,800 |
Every quote is written and line-itemed before work starts, and the number on the invoice is the number you approved. That’s the Relay Standard, and it’s non-negotiable on our jobs. DIY or Call Us?
If you’re handy, you can safely swap out hinges, drawer slides, and damper cylinders on an Abodu kitchen without calling anyone. The cabinet boxes are face-frame mounted and the hardware is standard European sizing. A Phillips driver, a T20 Torx bit, and a tape measure will get you through most of it. Where DIY goes wrong is when owners try to patch swollen MDF, rehang a heavier door on stripped boxes, or pull and re-glue countertop seams themselves. Squeezed-out epoxy on a quartz seam looks worse than the crack did. If the cabinet box is wet, soft, or pulling apart, call us at (254) 272-5876. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth saving or if the box needs to go, and a written estimate is free.
FAQs

Expect 10 to 15 years out of the original Abodu kitchen components before the hinges, slides, and MDF boxes start showing meaningful wear. In Los Angeles specifically, the dry air and indoor humidity cycles from unvented ranges shorten that, and cabinet boxes nearest the dishwasher or sink fail first.
Hinges, slides, and damper inserts can be repaired or upgraded without replacing any cabinetry. Door faces can be refinished if they’re laminate, and soft-close hardware can be added to existing doors. But once the MDF box itself swells, delaminates, or doesn’t hold a screw, patching is a losing game. Call us at (254) 272-5876 for an honest read.
A typical full remodel of an Abodu kitchen runs 3 to 5 weeks from demo to final cleanup, depending on counter fabrication lead times. Cabinet-only upgrades run 3 to 5 days. We sequence the work so your kitchen can stay usable as long as possible, and you get photo updates before and after along the way.
We stock Blum and Salice hinges, undermount slides in three lengths, replacement dampers, and edge-banding in the two finishes Abodu used most in Los Angeles builds. For anything needing customization, like a door or drawer face matched to a specific grain pattern, we template it and order through KraftMaid or Wellborn, which runs about two weeks. We also work with Cambria and Silestone for counter runs, so you’re not limited to what Abodu shipped originally.
