Atlas Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Atlas-compatible driveway pavers and paver systems across Los Angeles, with installed pricing typically running $8,260 to $21,240 for a full paver driveway and $4,130 to $12,980 for a paver patio. Most Atlas paver part replacements (individual units, edge restraints, joint sand, base material) land between $295 and $825 when the substrate is still sound. What usually brings an Atlas owner to this page is a cracked or shifting paver, spreading joints, or a low spot that pools water after winter rains. The good news: if the base was done right the first time, Atlas pavers are modular, so we can often swap individual units and re-compact without tearing out the whole driveway.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To
Atlas manufactures several paver lines, and the part you need depends on which one was installed. The Atlas Stone series (3-piece and 6-piece patterns) uses a 60mm thickness for residential driveways, while their Permeable line runs 80mm to handle vehicle loads plus water infiltration. Identifying your exact unit is straightforward: flip over a loose paver and look for the Atlas stamp on the underside, or measure the thickness with a tape measure. A 60mm unit is residential standard; anything thinner (often 40mm) was meant only for foot traffic and is the most common mismatch we see in Los Angeles, where a previous contractor cut corners and then blamed the pavers when they cracked under a car. We keep OEM Atlas units in the common Stone series colors (charcoal, sandstone, terracotta, and the grey-blend that dominates LA mid-century neighborhoods), and for older or discontinued lines we source aftermarket units that match within a Delta E of 2.0, which is invisible from five feet on a sun-weathered driveway. Sawyer Remodeling is an independent contractor, not an Atlas dealer, so we’ll tell you plainly when a quality aftermarket unit is the smarter spend and when OEM is the only play for warranty continuity on a newer install.

Signs Your Atlas Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Hairline cracks across multiple pavers in a line. This usually isn’t the paver’s fault. A linear crack pattern means the base underneath has settled or washed out, often along a utility trench or a low edge. The pavers are just tracing the problem below.
- Joint sand disappearing between units. Los Angeles gets enough wind and sudden downpours to strip polymeric sand over a few seasons, especially on sloped driveways in Silver Lake or Echo Park. When the sand goes, pavers start shifting laterally under load and edges begin chipping.
- One paver sitting proud or rocking underfoot. A rocking unit means the bedding layer has compacted unevenly beneath that spot. This is usually repairable with a lift-and-relay: pull the affected units, re-level the bedding sand, and re-set. It also means water is already finding a path underneath.
- White chalky residue blooming on the surface. Efflorescence is common with concrete pavers in the first year or two and is cosmetic, not structural. But persistent heavy blooming paired with darkened edges can signal trapped moisture from a drainage problem, and that moisture is doing more damage than the white stain.
- Edge pavers pulling away from the border. Without an edge restraint (plastic or concrete) that’s still intact, the perimeter units creep outward over time. On sloped Los Angeles driveways this gets bad fast because gravity is always working. If your restraint is cracked or pulling out, the fix is urgent before the pattern fans apart.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For an Atlas paver driveway replacement in Los Angeles, expect $8,260 to $21,240 installed, with the spread driven by square footage, access, substrate condition, and whether we’re reusing your existing base or excavating and rebuilding to spec. A paver patio runs $4,130 to $12,980. If the base is intact and you only need spot repairs (replacing cracked units, re-sanding joints, resetting an edge course), most jobs fall in the $295 to $825 range by the time we’ve factored mobilization, materials, and a half-day crew. The biggest cost driver is what’s under the pavers: a proper base in Los Angeles means 6 to 8 inches of compacted aggregate over geotextile fabric, and skipping it is how driveways fail in five years instead of thirty. Every quote from us lands in writing before work starts, with parts and labor split so you know exactly what an OEM Atlas unit costs versus an aftermarket equivalent. The work itself is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we come back and make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely handle joint sand replenishment on a small paver section, sweep the surface for loose units, and check your edge restraints for cracks. You can also pull a single broken paver if it’s fully loose, and that’s worth doing to bring the piece to us for matching. What you shouldn’t DIY is anything involving compacted base failure: lifting large sections, re-grading, or re-compacting without a plate compactor produces a wavy driveway that fails the first winter. Rebuilding a failed paver base is also genuinely hard work, and the tools alone (compactor rental, screed rails, laser level) eat most of what you’d save. If you’ve got more than three cracked pavers in a cluster or water pooling after rain, call us at (254) 272-5876 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether you’re looking at a spot fix or a base rebuild. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch – it just needs to be done right.
FAQs

Atlas concrete pavers on a properly compacted base last 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles, with the pavers themselves outlasting the base in most cases. The surface wears slowly; the failure point is almost always underneath. Call (254) 272-5876 for a free paver inspection if yours are showing age signs.
Individual cracked or chipped Atlas pavers can be replaced one-for-one as long as the base underneath is still stable and the pattern units are available in your color. We only recommend full replacement when cracking is widespread and the substrate has failed. Call us at (254) 272-5876 and we’ll assess what’s actually needed, not what’s easiest for us to sell.
A spot repair on a few units takes half a day; a full paver driveway replacement in Los Angeles typically runs four to seven working days from demo through final compaction, depending on access and whether we’re rebuilding the base. We schedule the work and send photo updates before and after, so you’re never guessing where things stand.
We stock the common Atlas Stone series units in the colors most used around Los Angeles, and we can source OEM or matched aftermarket units for older and discontinued lines. You never have to source parts yourself; the units arrive with the crew. Call (254) 272-5876 for an exact quote – estimates are free.
