CertainTeed Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We stock and install fence components built to match CertainTeed’s Bufftech and EverNew vinyl and composite fence lines, and full fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a standard residential perimeter. Most owners call us after a wind event snaps a rail, a post shifts out of plumb, or a gate stops latching because the hinge post has moved. You’ll get a written price before we touch a single post hole, and we carry the most common rail, post, and picket profiles on the truck for same-visit replacement.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To
CertainTeed’s fence catalog splits into two main families: Bufftech (the vinyl line, including CertaGrain textured finishes and traditional privacy styles) and EverNew (a lighter-weight vinyl option often used for semi-private and decorative runs). Within Bufftech, the most common series we service are Cambridge, Concord, and Imperial. The compatibility gotcha most homeowners run into is rail profile: Bufftech uses a two-rail or three-rail routed horizontal system, and the rail depth varies by series, so a Cambridge rail will not seat properly in an Imperial post. Check the inside face of a post cap or the end of a top rail for an embossed series name, or measure the rail’s cross-section with a tape measure before ordering anything. We install both OEM CertainTeed-manufactured components and, where the homeowner prefers, quality aftermarket profiles cut to the same post notch and rail pocket dimensions. Our default recommendation is OEM for any visible section-rail, cap, picket; aftermarket is fine for hidden fasteners and post stakes. Signs Your CertainTeed Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning or out-of-plumb posts. In Los Angeles, clay-heavy soils in neighborhoods like Encino and Baldwin Hills expand and contract with rain, and a post set in shallow concrete or without proper gravel drainage will drift. The post itself is rarely the problem; the footing is.
- Sagging gate that drags or won’t latch. The hinge post has usually racked forward under gate weight, or the gate frame rail has pulled its screws. CertainTeed gate frames are hollow-channel vinyl, so once a screw strips, the hole can’t be re-threaded without a backing plate.
- Snapped or bowing bottom rail. Vinyl expands more than wood in direct sun, and a bottom rail that was cut too tight on a hot day in the San Fernando Valley will bind. We see this most often on fences installed in winter and stressed in August.
- Pickets rattling or lifting out of the bottom rail. The internal locking tab has failed or the rail’s picket channel has deformed from heat. This is a rail replacement, not a picket fix.
- White chalky residue on CertaGrain surfaces. That’s vinyl oxidation from years of direct LA sun exposure. It doesn’t mean the fence is failing structurally, but it does mean surface repairs will be visible, and full replacement is worth pricing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full CertainTeed-compatible fence installation in Los Angeles runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a typical 100 to 180 linear foot yard. The main drivers are linear footage, fence height (6-foot privacy runs cost more than 4-foot semi-private), gate count and gate hardware, and whether old fence removal and disposal are required. A single post reset with new concrete runs $300 to $650. A rail section replacement falls between $175 and $450 per section. Every quote is parts and labor together, written line-by-line, before work begins. Our installs carry the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something moves, cracks, or fails within a year of the completed job, we come back and fix it. No invoice surprises, no change orders after the fact.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely handle cosmetic checks yourself: clean the rails, tighten a loose gate latch screw, inspect post caps. What we’d stop you from doing is pulling and resetting a vinyl post without knowing the concrete-to-gravel ratio for your soil type, or cutting Bufftech rails with a wood blade instead of a fine-tooth carbide. Vinyl shatters cleanly and fast, and a sloppy rail cut means a $200 replacement on your dime. If the failure is structural, or the fence is run along a retaining wall or property line, call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll bring the right profiles, the right hardware, and a written price.
FAQs

A properly installed Bufftech or EverNew fence lasts 20 to 30 years in the Los Angeles market, with the main wear factors being UV oxidation on the finish and soil movement affecting post footings. Fences installed with deeper concrete footings and proper drainage outlast shallow-set posts by at least a decade. Call (254) 272-5876 for a site evaluation and written quote.
A snapped rail needs replacement, not repair; vinyl rails are hollow extruded profiles, and gluing or bracketing one back together fails within months because the rail carries tension from picket weight and wind load. We stock the common Bufftech rail profiles and can match most series same-visit.
A single rail or post repair takes one visit, usually two to four hours. A full fence installation in Los Angeles takes one to three working days depending on linear footage and soil conditions. We’ll give you a start date and a live arrival time before the crew shows up.
We stock the most common Bufftech rails, posts, caps, and gate hardware on our trucks, and we can source series-specific EverNew components directly before your scheduled install. You don’t need to order anything yourself, and we don’t charge a parts markup above the written quote. Call (254) 272-5876 for an exact match and free estimate.
