Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Replacing a Cover sink or drain assembly in a Los Angeles kitchen typically costs $945 to $2,950 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping a basic drop-in or rebuilding a full undermount setup. The part itself usually runs $150 to $600, with labor making up the rest. Owners usually discover the failure the hard way: a persistent drip under the cabinet, a sink that no longer sits flush, or water pooling at the counter seam. You call a plumber, they say the sink’s fine, and then you notice the hairline crack around the flange. That’s the sink telling you it’s done.
Which Cover Models This Applies To
Cover kitchen sinks come in two main lines: the standard drop-in series and the undermount series designed for solid-surface counters. The drop-in models use a visible lip that rests on the countertop, while the undermount versions mount below the surface with clips and a silicone seal. The undermount is where we see most failures in LA homes, because it depends entirely on that seal holding against daily water exposure and our hard water chemistry. Before ordering anything, check the underside of the sink for a stamped model number, usually starting with “CS” or “KU.” If the label’s gone, measure the bowl depth and overall width. Cover uses non-standard bowl radii on several models, which means a generic replacement won’t sit right in the existing counter cutout. For most Cover drop-in replacements, a quality aftermarket sink with matching dimensions works fine and costs 30 to 50 percent less than the OEM part. For undermount models, we recommend staying OEM or going with a name-brand equivalent like Kraus or Blanco, because the flange geometry has to match exactly or you’ll fight the seal from day one.

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Water stains inside the base cabinet. This is almost always a failed undermount seal or a crack in the sink basin itself. Once water gets between the sink and the counter, it travels along the seam and drips where you store the pots.
- The sink edge lifts or flexes when you press down. That means the mounting clips have pulled loose or the silicone seal has degraded. In Los Angeles with our temperature swings and hard water, that seal typically lasts 7 to 10 years before it starts to fail.
- Rust or pitting around the drain flange. Cover’s stainless sinks hold up well, but the drain assembly that came from the factory is often the first component to corrode. We replace more drain baskets than anything else.
- Garbage disposal vibration shakes the whole sink. If the sink’s fasteners are loose or the flange is cracked, the disposal will rattle the bowl every time you run it. That vibration accelerates the crack.
- Visible hairline cracks near the corners. This is a structural failure, not a cosmetic one. A cracked Cover sink in a Los Angeles rental or flipped property usually means someone dropped a heavy pan or the counter settled. Either way, replacement is the only fix.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we charge in Los Angeles for Cover sink and drain work, parts included:
- Drain basket or strainer replacement: $945 – $1,300
- Full drop-in sink replacement (new Cover or equivalent): $1,180 – $1,900
- Undermount sink replacement with reseal: $1,550 – $2,300
- Complete kitchen sink and faucet replacement: $2,000 – $2,950
The range depends on whether we’re working with an existing counter cutout or modifying it, the condition of the counter edge, and whether the plumbing below needs updating. Every quote includes the written price before work starts, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice. We also back the installation with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the seal fails or the sink isn’t sitting right within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: tighten the drain assembly by hand, look for obvious cracks, and wipe down the underside of the sink to see if water reappears. That’s where we’d stop. Replacing an undermount sink means working upside-down in a cabinet with the counter above you, and if the seal doesn’t set correctly, you’ll get water damage inside the cabinet that costs far more than the sink did. The same goes for dropping a heavy cast-iron or stone sink: one slip equals a cracked counter. Luca Romano spent his early years learning finish work at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and the lesson stuck: the difference between a good install and a leak is about three millimeters of seal placement. FAQs

A Cover stainless sink should last 15 to 25 years, but the drain assembly and undermount seal typically need replacement every 7 to 10 years in Los Angeles, where hard water and temperature swings take their toll. If your sink is functioning but the seal is failing, you may not need a full replacement. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll tell you what we’d do if it were our kitchen.
No. Welding or epoxying a cracked stainless or composite kitchen sink is a temporary patch at best, and it will fail again, usually at the worst possible time. We recommend replacement for any crack that penetrates the bowl. For a firm quote, call (254) 272-5876.
Most Cover sink replacements take 2 to 4 hours on site, including shutting off the water, removing the old unit, installing the new one, and testing for leaks. Undermount replacements tend toward the longer end because the counter seal needs time to cure. We’ll give you an exact window before we arrive, not after you’ve taken the day off.
We stock common drain assemblies, mounting clips, and standard-sized replacement sinks on the truck for most Los Angeles service calls. For non-standard Cover models, we can source the part within 2 to 3 business days and schedule the install once it’s in hand. Call (254) 272-5876 with your model number and we’ll check availability while you’re on the phone.
