Jerith Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Jerith fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 installed, depending on fence height, linear footage, and whether we’re matching existing Jerith sections or running a full perimeter. We stock common Jerith-compatible aluminum posts, gates, and hardware on our trucks, and most partial replacements go in same-day once we’ve matched your model. Most owners discover a problem after a gate starts dragging, a post leans after rain, or a windstorm snaps a picket loose from its rail.
The tricky part with Jerith is that it’s residential aluminum, not the commercial-grade stuff. Aluminum is great for coastal Los Angeles because it never rusts, but the trade-off is thinner gauge metal. When a post takes a hit from a car bumper or the ground shifts after a wet winter, the post bends at the base instead of flexing back. That’s the failure we see most often across neighborhoods like Silver Lake, Echo Park, and the Valley.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

We work on the full Jerith residential lineup: the Premium Aluminum series (their most common install in Los Angeles), Ornamental Aluminum with loop-top or spear-top pickets, and the Industrial-Grade line for taller privacy or security applications. Jerith uses a two-piece post system on many models: a squared corner post with a press-fit cap, and gate frames that are pre-welded for specific hinge mounts.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we run into constantly: Jerith changed their gate hinge spacing on certain Premium series panels around 2018. An older gate’s hinge plate won’t line up with a newer post’s pre-drilled mounts, and vice versa. If you’re replacing a single gate leaf, you need the hinge plate measurement from center-to-center before we can match it. We measure on-site, and when the exact OEM part isn’t available, we use aftermarket aluminum posts from suppliers that maintain Jerith’s 2-1/2″ and 2″ standard post profiles. The aftermarket route saves about 30% on material cost and usually looks identical once powder-coated to match.
One more thing worth knowing: Jerith’s aluminum is AAMA 2603 certified, which is fine for most of LA, but within three miles of the coast in Long Beach or San Pedro, that finish degrades faster. Powder coat lasts 15 to 20 years inland; near salt air, plan for 8 to 12 before it starts chalking or flaking at the creases.

Signs Your Jerith Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags on the ground or won’t latch. This usually means the hinge post has shifted or the gate frame’s top rail has stretched. Aluminum expands more than steel in heat, and a black Jerith panel on a 100-degree Valley afternoon can move enough to throw the latch out of alignment by a quarter inch.
- Pickets rattle or fall out of the rail. Jerith uses a punch-press fit where the picket slides into the top and bottom rails. Road vibration, construction, or aggressive hedge trimming can pop those punch tabs loose. One loose picket usually signals several more on the same panel.
- Post leaning, especially after rain. Aluminum posts don’t rust, but the concrete footing underneath can heave when LA’s clay soil alternates between soaking wet and bone dry. A post that leans more than an inch off plumb is past repair; the footing needs to be re-poured.
- White chalky streaks running down panels. That’s the powder coat’s top layer oxidizing. It looks cosmetic, but once moisture gets under the coating, it creeps and causes aluminum pitting within another season or two.
- Gate hinge screws stripped or spinning. Jerith mounts hinge plates with stainless screws into the post wall, which is on the thinner side. Once the screw holes wallow out, the gate puts constant shear on the remaining screws and will eventually drop.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, Jerith fence installation and repair work breaks down like this:
- Single gate replacement: $520 to $1,180 installed, including the gate leaf, matching hinges, and latch adjustment.
- Post replacement with new footing: $410 to $710 per post, including concrete removal, new footing, and post haul-away.
- Partial panel replacement: $310 to $590 per 6-foot panel, matched to your existing Jerith profile and finish.
- Full Jerith fence installation: $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear feet, height, gate count, and whether we’re doing a new perimeter or working around existing landscape.
Every quote includes the parts, labor, concrete or hardware as needed, and haul-away of the old material. The price we write is the price you pay, no change orders. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation work for a full year: if a post shifts, a gate sags, or a picket pops loose because of our workmanship, we come back and fix it, no argument and no second invoice. That’s in writing on every Jerith job we do.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before calling: see if the gate hinge screws are snug, look for torn picket punch tabs, and eyeball whether any post is leaning out of plumb. Those checks cost you nothing and tell us a lot over the phone.
Where DIY goes sideways is the aluminum post removal and re-setting. A Jerith post set in concrete is typically buried 30 inches, and if that footing is still sound, breaking it out without damaging the adjacent fence sections or the underground sprinkler line is slow work with a real risk of cracking the remaining concrete pad. We use a two-person crew and a post puller that lifts the old footing out without tearing up the surrounding root line. For most Los Angeles homeowners, the time-cost of renting a jackhammer and wrestling a 60-pound concrete plug out of clay soil isn’t worth it. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll give you a written price before anything gets touched.
FAQs

A Jerith aluminum fence lasts 20 to 30 years inland, but that number drops to 10 to 15 within a few miles of the coast where salt air accelerates powder coat breakdown. The aluminum structure itself won’t rust, so failures are almost always post footings, gate hardware, or finish degradation.
Call (254) 272-5876 to have us look at your fence in person and tell you honestly what’s still got life in it.
A Jerith aluminum post that’s bent more than about an inch off plumb cannot be safely straightened, because bending aluminum back weakens the metal at the crease and the post will fail at that weak point within a year or two. Posts with less than an inch of lean can sometimes be plumbed back by re-shimming the footing.
Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll measure the lean and tell you straight whether it’s a re-shim or a replacement, with pricing for both.
A single gate or partial panel replacement on a Jerith fence takes about 2 to 4 hours, and a full post replacement with new concrete takes one day including cure time. A full perimeter installation in Los Angeles typically runs 2 to 4 days depending on linear footage and gate count.
Call (254) 272-5876 for a written schedule with a live arrival time before we ever step on your property.
We stock common Jerith-compatible aluminum posts, gate frames, hinges, latches, and picket profiles on our trucks, and for non-stock items we can usually source the exact OEM part within 48 hours through our supplier network. If you’re flexible on OEM versus aftermarket, most Los Angeles jobs are finished the same week.
We’re an independent service provider and not affiliated with Jerith, but we spec their parts every week. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll check our truck stock while you’re on the phone.
