KraftMaid Roofing: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your KraftMaid roofing system has a failing component, we stock the replacement parts and install them, typically for $470 – $2,125 per repair depending on what’s failed and where. Most KraftMaid roof issues we see in Los Angeles are caught during the first rain after a dry summer, when flashing pulls loose or a seal finally gives out. Roofing covers a lot of ground: underlayment, flashing, vents, shingles or tiles, ridge caps, and the fasteners holding it all together. The part that fails first is almost always the one exposed to the most direct sun, and in LA that usually means flashing or vent collars.
We’re an independent Los Angeles roofing and remodeling company. We’re not affiliated with KraftMaid, but we work with their roofing components regularly and know which parts interchange and which ones don’t.
Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

KraftMaid’s roofing line has shifted over the years, which matters when you’re trying to match a part. Early-series components (roughly pre-2010) used a narrower vent collar and a thinner 26-gauge flashing base. Current-production KraftMaid roofing components run a 24-gauge galvanized base with a wider collar that accepts a 3-inch or 4-inch vent stack. If your home was built or reroofed before 2010, measure the vent pipe and the collar opening before buying anything. A 3-inch collar will not seat properly on a 4-inch pipe, and forcing it means a leak within the first season.
The roof assembly itself is usually identifiable by the KraftMaid stamp on the underside of the ridge cap or the corner flashing. If you can’t find a stamp, take a photo of the failing part next to a tape measure and send it to us. We match from dimensions, not guesswork. KraftMaid OEM parts tend to run 20 – 30% higher than a quality aftermarket equivalent, and for certain long-discontinued flashing profiles, the aftermarket part is actually a better fit because it’s made to current code. We carry both on our trucks, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for your roof.

Signs Your KraftMaid Roofing Is Failing
- Water staining on the ceiling after rain. This is almost never a shingle problem. In Los Angeles, it’s usually a failed pipe boot or cracked vent flashing that’s letting water run down the vent stack and into the attic. The stain often appears three to six feet away from the actual breach, so don’t assume the wet spot is directly under the leak.
- Sagging or drooping underlayment visible in the attic. KraftMaid systems rely on a synthetic underlayment that should lie flat against the decking. If it’s sagging between rafters, the fasteners have backed out or the material has stretched. In LA’s heat, cheap underlayment can delaminate in under a decade; we replace it before it tears.
- Loose or lifted flashing at chimneys and skylights. The tar and sealant around flashing breaks down fast under California sun. Once the seal cracks, wind gets under the flashing and works it loose. You’ll see the lifted edge from the ground if you look closely.
- Granular grit collecting in the gutters. Asphalt shingle granules washing into gutters means the shingle surface is eroding. Some granule loss is normal in the first year after install, but ongoing grit means the shingles are aging faster than they should, usually because attic ventilation is insufficient for LA’s heat.
- Visible daylight through the roof deck in the attic. If you can see pinpoints of light from inside the attic, water can and will get in. This needs addressing before the next rain, not after.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles KraftMaid roofing repairs, we price by the job, not by the hour. A standard roof repair runs $470 – $2,125. That includes the part, all labor, fasteners, sealants, and a written line-item invoice before we start. If the job grows once we get on the roof, you get a new written price before we proceed. The number you approve is the number you pay.
Here’s how it breaks down in LA:
- Single pipe boot replacement: $470 – $710. New boot, new fasteners, new sealant, done in about an hour.
- Flashing repair at a chimney or skylight: $825 – $1,535. Depends on whether we’re resealing or cutting out and replacing the flashing.
- Underlayment repair at a valley or edge: $590 – $1,180. Includes removing the overlying shingles or tiles, replacing the underlayment, and reinstalling.
- Full roof replacement: $9,440 – $23,600 for a typical Los Angeles home. That’s a different conversation, and we’ll be straight with you if repair no longer makes sense.
Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right, backed in writing. And our pricing always lands in your hands before any work starts.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re comfortable on a ladder and just want to check the roof for obvious damage, go ahead. Look for lifted flashing, cracked vent collars, and missing shingles from the gutter line. Take photos. But we don’t recommend DIY work on a KraftMaid roof assembly, and here’s the honest reason: roofing is high-risk work. Falls from one-story homes in Los Angeles send people to the emergency room every week. And getting a flashing repair wrong means a slow leak that rots your decking from the inside out, often for months before you notice the stain. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch, it just needs to be done right. We’re background-checked, uniformed, and insured, and we’ll show up with the part on the truck. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll walk the roof with you.
FAQs

A properly installed KraftMaid asphalt shingle roof in Los Angeles should last 18 – 22 years, but flashing and seals typically need attention around the 8 – 12 year mark. LA’s UV exposure, Santa Ana winds, and the wet-dry cycle of coastal fog all accelerate sealant breakdown. If you’re seeing leaks at year 9 or 10, the structure is probably fine, but the seals have had it. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll tell you whether you need a repair or a replacement.
Yes, in most cases. Pipe boots, vent collars, and small flashing sections can be repaired or replaced individually without touching the rest of the roof. The exception is when water has already damaged the decking underneath. We’ll inspect the attic side before quoting anything. For an exact quote on your repair, call (254) 272-5876, estimates are free.
Most single-part repairs, like a pipe boot or vent collar, take 60 – 90 minutes once we’re on the roof. Flashing replacement at a chimney can take 2 – 3 hours. We give you a written time estimate with your written price, and our live arrival tracking means you know when we’re pulling up. Call (254) 272-5876 to schedule.
We carry the fast-moving KraftMaid-compatible parts on our trucks: pipe boots in 3-inch and 4-inch, standard vent collars, step flashing, and ridge cap fasteners. Less common profiles and full replacement orders arrive at our Los Angeles shop within 24 – 48 hours. We also stock parts for Cambria, Silestone, and Kohler for interior work, but roofing runs on its own supply line and we keep it stocked separately.
