Moen Roofing: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you’re searching for Moen roofing parts in Los Angeles, you’re likely dealing with a leaking vent boot, a cracked pipe flashing, or a failing roof accessory tied to your Moen plumbing stack. Sawyer Remodeling stocks and installs Moen-compatible roof flashings, vent boots, and stack collars, with most repairs running between $470 and $2,125 including labor and materials here in Los Angeles. We can usually get to you same week, not eight weeks out.
The way most homeowners discover a Moen roofing part has failed is simple: a water stain appears on the ceiling under a bathroom or kitchen vent stack, right after a heavy Los Angeles rain. The rubber collar around the vent pipe cracks, or the metal base pulls away from the shingles after years of sun and temperature swings. What starts as a $40 part becomes a $900 drywall repair if you wait through another rainy season.
We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with Moen. But we install and service their roofing-adjacent components every week across Los Angeles, from Silver Lake bungalows to Sherman Oaks remodels. And we put the price in writing before any work starts.
Which Moen Models This Applies To

Moen doesn’t make roofing shingles in the traditional sense. What they make, and what we install on Los Angeles roofs every month, are the roof-adjacent plumbing components that carry the Moen name: vent pipe flashings, stack collars, roof caps, and the neoprene or silicone boots that seal where your Moen plumbing stack penetrates the roof deck.
The compatibility question comes down to three measurements: pipe diameter (common sizes are 1.5″, 2″, 3″, and 4″), pipe material (ABS, cast iron, or copper), and roof pitch (the steeper the pitch, the longer the metal base flange needs to be). Moen-branded boots are typically sized to standard Schedule 40 pipe diameters. If you’re holding the old part, look for a stamped number on the base or collar. If you can’t find a stamp, measure the inside of the collar with a tape measure. Getting this one measurement wrong means the boot won’t seal and you’ll have the same leak in six weeks.
On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: Moen-branded roof flashings are solid, but aftermarket options from brands like Oatey and Lifetime Tool offer the same neoprene or silicone collar specification at 30-40% less. What matters more than the logo is the material. In Los Angeles sun, standard neoprene boots bake out and crack in 5-8 years. Silicone boots last 15-20. We stock both and will tell you which one makes sense for your roof, not just which one is cheaper to sell.

Signs Your Moen Roofing Is Failing
- Ceiling stain under a vent stack. This is almost always a cracked neoprene collar or a broken seal between the metal base and the shingle. The leak travels down the pipe and shows up on the ceiling 10-20 years after the flashing was installed.
- Daylight visible around the pipe in the attic. Get into the attic on a sunny day and look up. If you can see a sliver of light where the pipe passes through, water will follow that same path during the next storm.
- Granules or shingle debris accumulating on the flashing base. This means the shingles above the flashing are deteriorating and shedding onto the metal, which is a sign the whole surrounding section of roof is hitting its service life here in the Los Angeles basin heat.
- Rust or corrosion on the metal base. Los Angeles salt air near the coast accelerates this on cheaper galvanized flashings. Once rust starts, the base will eventually develop pinholes.
- Rubber collar that feels stiff or shows visible cracks. Walk the roof (carefully, if the pitch is low and you’re comfortable) and press the collar with your thumb. If it doesn’t flex, the material is degraded and a leak is coming.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what a Moen roof flashing replacement costs in Los Angeles when Sawyer Remodeling does the work:
| Work Included | Typical Price Range |
|---|---|
| Standard vent boot replacement (1.5″ – 2″ pipe, low pitch roof) | $470 – $825 |
| Larger stack collar replacement (3″ – 4″ pipe, steeper pitch) | $825 – $1,400 |
| Flashings plus surrounding shingle repair | $1,400 – $2,125 |
Every one of those prices includes the part, the labor to remove and properly re-seal the old flashing, and a written price before any work starts. The spread comes from pipe diameter, roof pitch (steep roofs cost more because we have to work slower and set up anchors), and whether the surrounding shingles are still sound enough to re-seal. If they’re not, that’s a bigger conversation about roof replacement, which runs $9,440 – $23,600 here in Los Angeles.
Our work on this part carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it leaks within a year, we come back and fix it. In writing. No phone tag, no debate.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check from the attic or the ground: look for water stains on the plywood decking, check the collar from a ladder if you can do so safely, and measure the pipe diameter for us before you call. Those three steps save us a trip and help us quote you accurately over the phone.
What you shouldn’t do is climb a wet or steep Los Angeles roof with a tube of roofing cement and try to patch around a cracked collar. That’s a temporary band-aid at best, and the risk of a fall is real. Also, if your flashing is damaged because the pipe itself moved or settled, you need to address the movement, not just the rubber – otherwise the new boot will tear again. That’s diagnostics, and it’s what we do every week from the Palisades to Pasadena. If you want us to look at it, call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll get you on the schedule.
Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch – it just needs to be done right. Luca Romano has been swinging tools in Los Angeles for over two decades, the kind of work that holds up. We stock what you need or can have it in hand within days, not weeks.
FAQs

A standard neoprene Moen roof boot lasts roughly 5-8 years in Los Angeles sun before it cracks; a silicone boot lasts 15-20. The UV exposure and heat cycling in the LA basin age rubber faster than the product packaging would suggest. Call (254) 272-5876 if you want us to inspect yours – a 15-minute look tells us exactly how much life is left.
Small cracks around the top edge of the collar can sometimes be extended with a heavy-duty silicone sealant, but once the collar has multiple cracks or has separated from the metal base, replacement is the only fix that will last. If you’re unsure which situation you have, send us a photo before you schedule and we’ll give you a straight answer.
A standard vent boot replacement takes 45-90 minutes once we’re on the roof. Add another 20-40 minutes if the surrounding shingles need to be re-sealed or replaced. Most Los Angeles homeowners book us for a morning appointment and are done before lunch.
We stock the most common Moen-compatible boot sizes in our trucks and can have specialty sizes in hand within a day or two from our Los Angeles suppliers. If you can send us a photo of the old part before the visit, we’ll bring the right replacement the first time.
