Moen Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Moen doesn’t manufacture windows or doors. Moen makes faucets, showerheads, and bathroom fixtures. If you Googled “Moen windows and doors” you probably have a Moen faucet in a kitchen or bathroom that sits next to a window or door that’s failing, or someone misdiagnosed a leak near a window as a plumbing problem when the water is actually coming through the frame. Either way, we can tell you what’s happening and whether it’s a Moen part or a window-and-door repair, because in Los Angeles we see this exact mix-up regularly. A worn window seal above a Moen kitchen faucet sends water down the backsplash and everybody blames the faucet cartridges until someone actually looks at the glass.
If it genuinely is a Moen fixture part that failed (cartridge, aerator, spray hose, escutcheon plate), we stock common Moen replacement parts on our trucks. If it’s the window or door that’s failing (fogged glass, rotted sill, sagging slider, stuck patio door), we handle that too. Typical Moen faucet part replacement runs $95 – $325 installed in Los Angeles. Window or door repairs near a Moen fixture start around $470 and go up depending on what’s actually wrong. Call (254) 272-5876 and we’ll tell you straight what you’re dealing with.
Which Moen Models This Applies To

Moen has been making faucets since 1937, and across that span they’ve used a few dozen cartridge designs. The part you need depends on which one is in your fixture, not the fixture’s finish. Moen’s most common lines in Los Angeles kitchens are the Adler, Align, Arbor, Brantford, and Weymouth single-handle pull-downs. Bathrooms are usually the Banbury, Voss, Eva, or Boardwalk two-handle and single-handle setups. Most of those use Moen’s 1225 or 1255 Duralast cartridge, which has been the standard since the 1980s, or the newer 1255 Duralast II with the two-piece stem for pull-out sprays.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: Moen changed the cartridge locking mechanism on select faucets after 2011, so a 1225 from 2005 is not a drop-in replacement for a 2011-era 1225 without the retaining clip swap. If you’re buying the part yourself, take the old cartridge out and bring it with you, or read the model number off the sticker on the supply line under the sink. Moen’s model numbers start with letters like CA, TS, or 87400 series. Aftermarket cartridges exist and some are fine, but we’ve pulled enough wobbly aftermarket stems out of LA kitchens to recommend OEM Moen cartridges for anything you’re planning to keep. We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not affiliated with Moen, so we’ll tell you when aftermarket works and when it doesn’t.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Moen Windows & Doors Is Failing
- A drip that won’t stop even with the handle off. That’s the cartridge. Moen cartridges wear the internal seals flat after 8 – 15 years in LA water, and tightening the handle harder only strips the set screw.
- Water pooling at the base of the faucet or on the counter only when the window above is open. That’s usually the window seal or the window frame, not the Moen fixture at all. In Los Angeles, marine-layer fog and salty air hit west-facing windows hard, and seals fail around year 12 on average.
- Reduced flow at one faucet while others are fine. The aerator screen is clogged with LA sediment. Moen aerators are thread-matched to the faucet, and an off-the-shelf universal one from the hardware store usually cross-threads and leaks at the joint.
- Spray head keeps falling back into the spout with a thunk. The Moen weight clip or the docking collar is cracked. This is a $25 – $60 part and a ten-minute fix when you have the right Moen-specific collar.
- Fog between double-pane glass or a door that drags along the track. That’s not a Moen issue, but it shows up on the same service call. Failed argon seals on vinyl windows in Los Angeles are common after year 11 – 14, and patio door rollers on the coast corrode from salt air faster than inland.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Moen faucet parts specifically, here’s where Los Angeles prices land:
- Moen cartridge replacement (single-handle): $95 – $185 installed. OEM cartridge included.
- Moen spray hose and head replacement: $120 – $240 installed, depending on the model line.
- Moen aerator replacement: $45 – $95 installed. We carry the thread-matched Moen-specific aerators, not universal adapters.
- Window seal or glass replacement near a Moen fixture: $470 – $2,125 depending on glass size, frame material, and access. This is separate from the Moen work.
- Door or window full replacement in Los Angeles: $5,310 – $17,700, depending on size, material, and how much rough-opening repair is needed.
Every price above is the number you approve before work starts. We’re Sawyer Remodeling, part of the Relay Home Co. family since 2005, and the whole job runs under The Relay Visibility Guarantee: a live arrival time, before-and-after photo updates, and a written price before a single tool comes off the truck. If it’s not done right, our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers it for a full year. That means if the replacement cartridge drips in month ten, we come back at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Moen cartridges and aerators are the friendlier end of home repair. If you’ve got the model number, a basin wrench, and ten minutes, you can swap a cartridge yourself, and Moen’s own videos walk you through it. The danger zone is mis-threading plastic retaining nuts, which splits at the collar and turns a $120 part job into a new faucet. We’ve also seen DIYers crack supply line compression nuts, which floods the cabinet and sometimes the ceiling below. Water damage in a Los Angeles wood-frame kitchen is a $4,000 mistake no one budgeted for.
Windows and doors are a different animal. Wood sill rot around a window frame, sagging patio door glass, or anything involving a counterweight or high-tension balance spring should not be a weekend project. We say that honestly because we’ve repaired enough DIY attempts to know the margin for error is zero when tempered glass or a loaded spring is involved. If your Moen part is leaking or your window frame is failing, call (254) 272-5876. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service call, based on what we stock and what we’ve seen in Los Angeles this month.
FAQs

Most OEM Moen cartridges last 8 – 15 years in Los Angeles depending on water hardness and how often the handle gets turned. Hard water from LA’s municipal supply shortens that toward the low end. If you’re replacing cartridges more often than that, you likely have sediment buildup in the supply lines that’s chewing through seals.
Sometimes. Moen’s Duralast cartridges are sealed units, so internal repair isn’t practical, but aerator screens, spray heads, and handle sets can often be cleaned or re-seated before you spend on full replacement. We’ll always tell you which one applies before charging for the part. Call (254) 272-5876 for an honest read.
A cartridge, aerator, or spray hose replacement takes 30 – 60 minutes once our tech is at the job. Window seal or door repair near the fixture is usually a half-day to a full day depending on access and whether the frame needs work. We give you a written time estimate when we confirm the appointment.
Yes. Our Los Angeles trucks carry common Moen 1225 and 1255 cartridges, Moen-specific aerators, spray hose assemblies, and weight clips, so most faucet repairs are done in one visit. If it’s a less common Moen part, we source it same-week through our parts partners. We also stock window and door replacement parts for the other major brands we service, alongside materials from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone.
