PGT Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you have a PGT driveway or paver system with a failing part, here’s the straight answer: we source and install PGT-compatible driveway and paver components across Los Angeles, and typical installed pricing lands between $295 and $21,240 depending on whether you need a small repair like sealing or a full paver driveway replacement. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: a paver sinks after February rain, an edge restraint lets go near a planter, or a drain channel separates from the slab. That’s when the part hunt starts, and it shouldn’t take three weeks and four voicemails to get a price.

We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not affiliated with PGT the manufacturer. What we do is match the right part to your existing system, quote the job in writing before any work begins, and send background-checked technicians who show up on time. If a part fails within a year, the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the fix. That’s how we’ve handled driveway work across LA since 2005.

Which PGT Models This Applies To

PGT driveway and paver components break down into a few families, and the compatibility question is where most Los Angeles homeowners get burned. PGT produces interlocking concrete pavers in multiple series, each with different thickness profiles. The 60mm pavers are rated for pedestrian and light-vehicle use. The 80mm pavers are the ones you want for a driveway that handles SUVs and delivery trucks on a daily basis. If someone installs 60mm pavers under a driveway, you’ll see cracking within two to four years in LA’s heat-and-rain cycles.

Identifying your part starts with the underside of any loose paver. PGT stamps a series code into the back of most units. Match that code before ordering replacements. If the stamp is worn off, measure the thickness with a caliper: 2 3/8 inches means 60mm, 3 1/8 inches means 80mm. The OEM versus aftermarket decision matters less for pavers than it does for edge restraints and drain channels. We carry both OEM PGT edge restraints and a domestic aftermarket line that holds up better against LA’s clay soil expansion. The aftermarket restraint costs about 15 percent less and typically outlasts the OEM version in neighborhoods like Eagle Rock and Highland Park where the ground moves seasonally.

Signs Your PGT Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Edge pavers drifting outward toward the lawn or sidewalk. The edge restraint has lost its spike grip in the soil. Los Angeles clay expands in winter and contracts in summer, which slowly works plastic restraints loose. Once the edge goes, the entire field starts spreading.
  • Low spots that hold water after rain. The base material under that section has washed out or compacted unevenly. In LA, this often traces to a broken irrigation line under the driveway or a downspout dumping water at the paver edge. Standing water is the first sign, and the paver will crack shortly after if you ignore it.
  • Cracked pavers in a diagonal line across the driveway. That’s a stress pattern, not a material defect. It usually means vehicle weight is concentrated on a section where the base wasn’t compacted deep enough. Homes in the hills, like Mount Washington or Echo Park, see this more because of sloped grades and shallow base prep by previous installers.
  • Sand washing out between joints after every rain. The joint sand has failed, or the pavers have shifted enough to open the gaps. If you don’t re-sand and stabilize, the pavers start rocking underfoot, which cracks them faster. In Los Angeles, polymeric sand needs reapplication every three to five years depending on rainfall and sun exposure.
  • Pavers sinking around the garage apron or gutter line. Water is funneling into the base from a drainage problem. The apron takes the heaviest repeated load on the driveway, and LA flash-rain events push more water through that zone than anywhere else on the property.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Typical Los Angeles Price
Paver driveway sealing $295 – $825
Paver patio installation $4,130 – $12,980
Paver driveway installation (full) $8,260 – $21,240
Driveway replacement (any material) $5,900 – $16,520
Partial paver repair (per section) $590 – $2,950

Those ranges cover Los Angeles market conditions as of this year. The spread depends on square footage, base condition, slope, access for equipment, and whether we’re matching existing pavers or doing a full field replacement. Every quote we write is a line-item price: materials, labor, haul-off, and any base repair shown separately. The number we put in writing before work starts is the number you pay. No change orders unless we hit something unexpected underground and get your sign-off first. The 365-Day Done Right Promise backs every driveway repair and installation, and if a repair fails within that year, we come back at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s an honest middle ground here. You can safely reset a single sunken paver if you have a rubber mallet, paver sand, and patience. You can also clear debris from a drain channel without touching anything structural. What you shouldn’t do is attempt a base rebuild or a full edge restoration. That means pulling up dozens of pavers, adding and compacting base material, and resetting everything level. Get the compaction wrong and you’ll have the same failure again in twelve months, only now you’ve spent two weekends on it. Cutting pavers to fit edges also requires a wet saw and the right PPE; concrete dust is not something you want in your lungs.

If the damage covers more than ten square feet or touches the garage apron, call us at (254) 272-5876. A technician will come out, measure the fall of the driveway, check the base with a probe, and give you a written price. You’ll know exactly what it costs before you decide anything. That’s the whole point.
