Tremron Construction in San Diego, CA | Sawyer Remodeling
We install and repair Tremron paver driveways, patios, and retaining walls across San Diego County, from Oceanside down to Tremron in Chula Vista. The one thing that makes our Tremron work different here is simple: San Diego’s coastal fog belt and inland heat don’t treat these pavers the same way, so a driveway that holds up in Point Loma can effloresce or shift in Santee. We’re an independent installer, not an authorized Tremron dealer, and every job gets a written price before we pick up a single tool. Call Sawyer Remodeling at (254) 272-5876 for a free estimate.
Why San Diego Residents Choose Us for Tremron Service

Most General Contractor - San Diego professionals know how to lay a paver. Fewer understand what a Tremron Mega Olde Towne paver does after two years of marine-layer dampness on a sloped Normal Heights lot, or why a Plaza Series driveway heaves over expansive clay in Chula Vista. That’s the difference. Luca Romano, our owner, spent his early years watching his uncle gut and rebuild a duplex in Silver Lake, then went straight to Los Angeles Trade-Technical College to learn framing and how to read a set of plans without guessing. Good work doesn’t need a sales pitch – it just needs to be done right. We carry that same standard into every Tremron job in San Diego, and we back it with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. Written down, on every project. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, and you get photo updates before and after, a live arrival time, and a written price before any work starts.

Common Tremron Construction Problems We Solve in San Diego
- Efflorescence blooms on Mega Olde Towne and Olde Charleston pavers. San Diego’s marine layer and winter rains wick calcium salts up through the concrete, leaving white mineral streaks that don’t rinse off with a hose. We clean and re-seal affected fields, but we also fix the drainage and joint-sand profile that made the paver hold moisture in the first place.
- Polymeric sand joint failure and shifting pavers in Plaza Series driveways. Steep coastal grades in neighborhoods like Mission Hills and parts of La Jolla put real lateral pressure on paver fields. If drainage wasn’t cut to handle the slope, the sand washes out and pavers start walking. We re-cut the grade, re-lay the field, and use a wider joint sand.
- Color fade and surface scaling on older tumbled Tremron finishes. West-facing inland lots in San Diego, like in Poway or Rancho Peñasquitos, get intense afternoon UV. Older tumbled finishes that sit in that sun for a decade start to chalk and scale. We can’t reverse UV aging, but we can match replacement units and seal the re-laid section to slow the degradation.
- Edge chipping and interlock separation on driveways without a proper base. San Diego’s expansive clay moves with moisture, and pavers laid directly over it will shift, chip at the edges, and separate. This is the most common failure we correct: we pull the field, cut a proper sub-grade, set a compacted base, and re-lay with fresh joint sand.
- Retaining wall block tipping and bulging. Tremron Weston Stone walls hold up well, but if they’re built without adequate drainage behind the wall, hydrostatic pressure pushes them outward after a few wet winters. We rebuild the wall with proper backfill and a drainage plane, reusing sound blocks where we can.
Tremron Service in San Diego: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Here’s the thing that actually decides whether your Tremron paver driveway looks great in five years or starts efflorescing: the coastal fog belt. San Diego’s marine layer keeps paver joints damp far longer than inland valleys, so a Mega Olde Towne installation west of I-5 in, say, Ocean Beach needs wider joint sand and a steeper drainage plane than the same paver on a Santee or El Cajon lot. That single microclimate split is more important than the paver brand in your driveway. The paver is fired and cured identically whether it ships to San Diego or San Francisco. What’s different is the water that sits on it, the air that hangs over it, and the sun that bakes it. In Normal Heights, off Adams Avenue, we replaced a heaved Tremron Plaza Series driveway where the original installer had set pavers directly on clay with no compacted base. We pulled the field, re-cut the grade, set a 6-inch Class II base, and re-laid the salvaged pavers with new polymeric joint sand, then tied the new edge into the existing Weston Stone planter wall. Two winters later, the driveway is still flat because the base, not the paver, was the actual repair. That’s the kind of thing you can’t see from a picture of a finished driveway. It’s the part we think about on every San Diego site.

Tremron Models & Products We Service in San Diego
We work with the full Tremron hardscape line that’s common in San Diego: Mega Olde Towne pavers, Plaza Series pavers, Olde Charleston pavers, and Weston Stone retaining wall blocks. All of these are tumbled 60mm concrete units, and all of them show age differently depending on your lot orientation and proximity to the coast. For repairs and expansions, we use genuine Tremron units so the color, thickness, and interlock match the existing field. For base, bedding, and joint materials, we spec quality equivalents when Tremron-branded options aren’t available, because the sub-base matters more than the logo. When a Tremron paver or wall block is spalling through its face, we recommend replacing that section rather than patching – surface repairs on tumbled concrete never blend. We keep the fast-moving unit styles stocked locally for quicker San Diego turnarounds, and we can source the rest quickly through our supplier relationships.

| Service | Price Range |
|---|---|
| Paver Driveway Installation | $8,260 – $21,240 |

| Driveway Replacement | $5,900 – $16,520 |

What drives the price on a Tremron paver job in San Diego? Lot slope, access, the condition of the sub-grade, and whether we’re doing a fresh install or a salvage-and-re-lay. A standard paver driveway on a flat Poway lot costs less than the same square footage on a sloped Mission Hills hillside during a San Diego Bathroom Remodeling project. A free estimate from us includes a written line-item price before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice. Call (254) 272-5876 to schedule yours.

FAQs – Tremron Construction in San Diego
Yes, and it’s more important west of I-5 than inland. The marine layer keeps paver surfaces and joints damp for longer stretches, which accelerates efflorescence and gives organic growth a foothold. A penetrating sealer helps the paver shed water and slows mineral staining. We recommend re-sealing every 2 to 3 years for coastal San Diego lots. Call (254) 272-5876 if you want an exact quote for sealing your Tremron surface.
Almost always, the sub-base failed, not the paver. San Diego’s expansive clay moves with moisture, and if the original installer skipped the compacted base or went too thin, the field will sink, shift, and separate at the joints. The fix is a field pull, re-grading, a proper 6-inch Class II base, and re-laying the units with fresh joint sand. We see this on about half of the Tremron repair calls we run in San Diego. Estimates are free if you want a firm number.
Yes. We match the unit style, thickness, and tumbled finish as closely as the current Tremron production allows. Older fields will have some natural UV color shift, so a brand-new unit won’t be invisible against a ten-year-old field, but it’s the closest match possible, and the interlock will be correct. We recommend replacing a full bordering section rather than a scattered patch when we’re blending into an established field.
The marine layer keeps surfaces damp, which promotes efflorescence and, over time, can encourage surface scale in older tumbled finishes. It won’t change the base concrete color of the paver, but it will make mineral staining and joint darkening more visible. The same paver on a Santee lot will look different than one in Point Loma after three years. Drainage and joint sand selection are the corrective levers.
A paver driveway is a series of individual interlocking concrete units set over a compacted base. A concrete driveway is a monolithic slab. Pavers move slightly with soil movement and can be re-laid if the ground shifts; concrete cracks and has to be cut and replaced when that happens. In San Diego, where expansive clay is present in many inland neighborhoods, pavers often survive soil movement better than a slab. The trade-off is cost: pavers typically run higher per square foot. Call (254) 272-5876 for a free estimate on either option.
